Looking for something different this Father’s Day? Rutland BBQ cookery school, Hoggy’s Grill, is hosting a special pop-up Father’s Day feast in the spectacular grounds of Whatton House, near Loughborough. The event, on Sunday 19 June, invites families to treat the dads, stepdads, grandads, and father figures in their lives to a delicious menu of grilled food.
The magnificent Whatton House, built in the late Georgian period, is set in 15 acres of delightful gardens offering the picture-perfect scene for hosting a summer BBQ.
This special Father’s Day event will be catered by the barbeque experts from Hoggy’s Grill – a purpose-built grill school run by ex-England international cricketer Matthew Hoggard MBE and his wife, Sarah. Diners can choose from a mouth-watering menu of BBQ options, from pulled pork rolls with apple sauce and stuffing to fully loaded smash burgers and smoked chicken BBQ bloomers. Vegetarian and children’s options are also available, along with coleslaw, salads and other side dishes, and a homemade brownie to finish. A choice of food and entry to Whatton House gardens is included in the ticket price.
“Hoggy’s Grill is all about being creative and enjoying great food, together,” said Matthew. “I can’t think of better surroundings to bring the family and tuck into a BBQ feast than the beautiful gardens at Whatton House.
“There are many dads out there that like to think they are the King of the BBQ, myself included! We are giving them a rest this Father’s Day so they can enjoy a delicious menu of grilled food without having to lift a finger.”
Dads will enjoy a bottle of beer included in their ticket price, and there will be a paid bar on site provided by local Long Whatton pub, The Falcon. There will also be tea, coffee and an ice cream van to keep everyone’s sweet-tooth satisfied.
The food, which is pre-ordered at time of booking, is all prepared and cooked by Matthew on the grill.
Hoggy’s Grill, which has a permanent home on the banks of Rutland Water, offers a variety of cookery classes for customers to try, from traditional barbecue fare in their burger classes to flexible three course menus including tomahawk steaks, beer can chicken, seafood feasts and veggie extravaganzas. Guests can also buy what they try, with a variety of BBQs, accessories and equipment for sale along with specialty BBQ rubs and sauces, giving them the chance to continue honing their al fresco cooking skills at home.
Tickets to the Hoggy’s Grill Father’s Day pop-up at Whatton House are priced £35 for adults and £12 for under-12s. Tickets must be bought in advance from the Hoggy’s Grill website.
