As 2016 draws to an end there’s plenty happening in Leicester to keep you entertained and see in 2017 with a bang. Here’s our pick of the bunch:
CRAFTY AT ST MARTIN’S
Crafty have got a great New Year’s lined up and there are just a few spaces left! Book your table for the evening and enjoy welcome bubbles, sharing platters of nachos, pigcorn popper, mac & cheese bites and wings, then choose your burger from all the usual Crafty favourites including Farmyard Jam and Krispy Klucker. Add to your burger a selection of Pimped Fries (fries topped with slow cooked pork, smoked sausage, melted cheese, jalapenos and BBQ sauce? Go on then) and then finish it all off with champagne jelly and ice cream. They’ve cleared an area for boogying and there’ll be another glass of bubbly at midnight.
Doors open at 6pm with 3 sittings for dinner at 7.30, 8.30 and 9.30pm. Tickets (including all food) cost £32 from Eventbrite.
THE SHED
After 22 years as an integral part of Leicester’s music scene, The Shed is changing hands from New Year’s Day. This is your chance to come down and celebrate the venue’s history and tradition for live music and local bands. The Shed will be moving into safe hands with Dreaming in Colour Productions taking over the reigns, but don’t miss the chance for one final party under Kev’s tenure. There will be live music across 2 floors until late with Arc Isla, TARRP (ft. members of The Simpletones), Rockaoke, The Whisky Rebellion, Dedbeats and whole lot more.
Tickets cost £6 in advance, £8 on the door and just £3 if you’re an artist who has ever performed at The Shed. You will need physical proof of this with you to be handed in on the door which will go towards making a mural at the venue. Advance tickets are available from WeGotTickets.
THE COOKIE
History are hosting a party at The Cookie for New Year with 6 hours of house, funk, soul and disco across 2 floors. The ground floor will see DJ Mr Hickford spinning funk and soul, whilst in the basement there’ll be house and disco from Enjun, Luke Tob and Collo.
It all kicks off at 8pm and entry is FREE.
MANHATTAN 34
Celebrate the New Year in style at Manhattan 34 with live music from jazz duo The SnowFathers and complimentary Prosecco toast at midnight.
The fun starts at 10pm and entry is FREE.
FIREBUG
The Plug DJs return to Firebug for a New Year silent disco to suit all music tastes. There’ll be three simultaneous DJs to choose from and absolutely no music policy, so anything goes!
Doors open at 10pm to upstairs and entry to Firebug both upstairs and downstairs is FREE all night. You will just need to pay a £10 deposit for your silent disco headphones.
BODEGA
One of our favourite new openings of 2016 is Bodega in St Martin’s Square. Book a table to enjoy some tasty South American cuisine and then keep your table all night to see in the New Year. There’ll be happy hour cocktails ALL night plus live entertainment and plenty of tequila!
THE PARCEL YARD
Parcel Yard is always a good bet for New Year’s Eve and this year is no different with their Funk & Soul party. Live music comes from The Funk Soul Collective and The King Brasstards plus a late night DJ spinning all the best 70s hits. Fancy dress optional but encouraged.
Advance tickets cost £20 and you can get yours from WeGotTickets.

THE PUG & GREYHOUND, GREAT GLEN
Some people might want to forget all about 2016 but The Pug & Greyhound are celebrating it with a 2016 themed party. They’re encouraging all attendees to dress as their favourite newspaper headline from this year, from Brexit to Champions of England, or Trump to the Rio Olympics, there’s so much to choose from!

THE ORANGE TREE, LOUGHBOROUGH
The biggest party of the year hits Loughborough at The Orange Tree, where they’ll be partying from midday to 2am. Free entry, free vodka jelly shots, drinks offers and champagne plus DJs spinning the hits from 9pm. Boogie into 2017 with the very best soul, funk, motown, Northern Soul, rock n roll and reggae.
