This weekend isn’t just Easter, it’s St George’s Day on Saturday as well! It’s about time we made more of our patron saint and this year if you head on down to The Cultural Quarter they’ll keep you entertained all day and well into the night!

In Orton Square and surrounding venues there will be family entertainment as well as live music, arts & craft stalls, street art and an array of activites. Whilst you’re in the area make sure you drop by the LCB Depot as they’ll be hosting the first ever Makers Mart contemporary craft and design fair. You’ll be able to view (and purchase of course) a wide range of the very best art, craft and design that the region has to offer! This will be on all through the day until around 5pm when the evening celebrations will kick into action!

The Exchange bar will have live music all day and right through until midnight and will be serving a range of traditional ciders and ales. There’ll also be live music on down at Phoenix Square from Tiggy Whiteworth & Libby Eve and they’ll also be serving a traditional range of food and drinks. Meanwhile  if you fancy having a sing-a-long of your own then The Ale Wagon will be hosting an open mic session for anyone who fancies taking to the stage. Then why not make your last stop The Soundhouse, where there will be a full programme of music and completely free entry all day! Their music starts at 1pm with local artists taking to the stage (plus a few open slots in you fancy getting on stage) and will go well into the evening. The evening line-up includes Twist and Sweetie Pie, plus rumour has it that weather permitting there’ll be a BBQ out in the beer garden too, so if we’re to believe the forecast the BBQ seems a sho0-in!

It’s time to squeeze as much patriotism in as we can before the Royal Wedding.
