lcb leicester canteen street food
The UK’s best street food traders are coming to Leicester as the very first CANTEEN event takes place at LCB Depot in the Cultural Quarter on Friday 2 December.

Street food has come such a long way in recent years with pop up events taking the UK food scene by storm. Now Leicester will have its very own regular event with rotating traders to keep the foodies excited!

So what can you expect from the first event? Let’s introduce the traders…

Leave it to Esmie
Hailing from Birmingham, Esmie is well known throughout the street food scene as serving up some of the best Carribean food you’ll lay your hands on. Expect jerk chicken/pork and plenty of Caribbean flavoured seafood goodness.

Homeboys
Coming in from Nottingham we’ve got Asian food specialists, Homeboys. Homeboys is the new food truck from Masterchef 2015 finalist Pete Hewitt, serving up Asian inspired street food out of a 1978 Grumman Olson Stepvan. Expect the best Asian specialities like katsu and ramen and some surprises on the night.

Plukd
Bringing you Leicester’s best gourmet chicken wings, Plukd will soon be opening up a permanent home in Leicester, but before that happens we’ve got them for 1 night only at LCB Depot. With a variety of options from the super hot to the milder flavours, everyone will want to get Plukd.

GRAYS
Last but by no means least, LCB’s very own GRAYS Kitchen will be open, serving up their usual fantastic menu options, vegetarian choices, coffees and cakes. The bar will also be open for all of your Friday night alcohol needs including special cocktails from event sponsor, Sailor Jerry.

The event kicks off at 5pm and will be running until 10pm*. Entry is free, just pay for what you eat and drink. There’ll also be sounds from DJ Fitz and indoor retro gaming, so pop down after work and support this brilliant new event, which will hopefully be the first of many.

*Parking at the local NCP is only £4.60 for as long as you want when the ticket is stamped by our machine.
