Whittard of Chelsea has been a popular tea and coffee merchant since back in 1886. When did you last pop into their Leicester store?
Known for sourcing the highest quality tea, coffee and cocoa from across the globe, now, over 130 years since the start, they’re still following their founder’s philosophy, passion and expertise in a quality cuppa.
The Highcross store in the Upper Mall currently has their summer sale on with plenty of new products on their way in. We caught up with the team to find out more for this week’s BID Spotlight.
Tell us a little about the Whittard of Chelsea and your product range?
We are tea, coffee and hot chocolate merchants and customers recognise us for the quality and range of products available. We’re perhaps best known for our long heritage, having been established way back in 1886. If you’re looking for loose leaf tea, flavoured teas, hot chocolates, loose coffee or instant tea, we have ample choice.
What are some of the most popular items you stock?
In terms of tea, the Dreamtime instant tea and also the English Rose tea are hugely popular. We also sell huge amounts of our Guatemala Elephant Coffee.
Do you have any new summer products available?
We had some delicious blends and products in for summer and have actually recently started our summer sale. It’s a great time to pop into store and buy some flavours that are perfect for the rest of the summer weeks ahead.
Summer is the perfect time for Iced Tea, what’s your favourite flavour?
We do some wonderful iced teas, with flavours including mango, cherry and pineapple, as well as other summer drinks. My favourite would have to be the Mango Sorbet.
What’s your favourite thing about your store position in Highcross?
We love being in Highcross. There are so many other lovely shops around us, which means we enjoy great footfall in our position in the Upper Mall. We also have Hotel Chocolat downstairs so we enjoy a bit of friendly competition with them over our hot chocolates.
