Have you thought about new year, new me yet? As we reach the end of the year, you might be thinking of new hobbies or trying new lifestyle and fitness changes for 2025.

If you’ve ever thought of Bikram Yoga but never been to try it, now is your chance. Leicester’s Bikram Yoga studio has a special 30 day challenge for January, offering you a discounted entry level package to really get 2025 started in a positive fashion.

We caught up with owner Hannah to find out more for this week’s BID Spotlight feature.

How would you describe Bikram Yoga to someone who’s never been?

Bikram Yoga is everything! It’s going to help you change your bad habits and help you put your own health and wellbeing as a priority.

It’s a therapeutic sequence of two breathing exercises and 26 postures performed in a heated room. It’s suitable for every body and is a great leveller, so no matter your background, yours fitness levels, your injuries or your state of mind this practice is for you.

Tell us about your studio and where it is?

The studio is located at 22 Rutland St, opposite the LCB Depot and right by Curve in the city’s St George’s Cultural Quarter.

We have a beautiful yoga room heated by far infrared, mirrors, humidifiers and male and female changing rooms with showers. It’s a truly diverse, welcoming and positive community. BYL is a female and independently owned studio. Everyone is welcome.

You have a special 30 day challenge launching in January, what is it and how can people get involved?

Our 30 Day Challenges are incredibly popular! This is your chance to kick start your fitness and wellbeing goals. Start anytime during the first week of January 2025 and commit to 30 consecutive classes. That’s a class a day for 30 days so you can feel alive in 25!

If you’ve never been to the studio before you can sign up with an Intro Pass, £50 for unlimited classes in 30 days.

What are some of the specific benefits of Bikram Yoga?

Sweating helps the body to detoxify and drastically improves circulation. The heat also relaxes muscle tissue enabling deeper stretching which feels more comfortable with less risk of injury. The challenge of the postures in the heated room creates a stronger cardiovascular workout meaning more than double the calorie burn of a usual yoga class. The challenge presented by hot yoga also presents a challenge for the mind which leaves you feeling amazing when you finish a class and helps to build confidence.

Is it suitable for beginners with no previous yoga experience?

Yes absolutely. Bikram is a beginners yoga class. Suitable for every single body. Don’t hesitate, don’t let your injuries or anxiety stop you from making positive changes in your life. Come and visit us today.

Tell us about your membership and class packages?

The Intro Pass at £50 is the best way start and is available for brand new students. If you’ve been before you can take out a 10 class card for £150 or the monthly unlimited membership is £80. You can also do a drop in class for £22.
