As hospitality reopens outdoors there’s a fresh buzz on the streets of Leicester.
Cafes, bars and restaurants in the city have reopened their doors this week and many have been working extra hard on making sure their outdoor space is as welcoming as possible. Whether you’re going on a lunch date, coffee with friends or a weekend meal out, in this week’s BID Spotlight we’ve picked out a few of our must visit spots.
Spreading out on Jubilee Square, Wygston’s House has a new extended outdoor space with an outdoor bar and plenty of seating. They’ve also got a brand new menu to accompany it too with tasty food options to see you through the week and an excellent Sunday lunch. They aren’t taking advance bookings so just head down and grab a table.
Grays has been working on the courtyard with extra marquee covering, heaters and a new outdoor bar too. They’re open during the daytime throughout the week, as well as operating as a beer garden on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Their popular weekend food evenings are returning from this weekend, with a menu that’s guaranteed to have the unique Grays stamp on it. Book online for evening tables via graysleicester.com.
If you’re looking for a coffee catch-up or breakfast spot then head over to Esquires at New Walk Place. They’ve installed marquee covering to run alongside their existing outdoor space giving them plenty more seating and a lovely under cover option. Coffee, brunch, lunch and cakes – the menu is slightly reduced at the moment but with plenty of favourites still on there.
The Tree is reopening with a bang and a brand new menu offering… tacos. The taco menu has launched this week and looks fabulous! They’ve also announced a series of Friday night events with DJ Squirt Master Funk, spinning disco, hip hop, funk and rnb from 5pm until late, happening each Friday night during May. Bookings can be made for food or drinks via The Tree website.
The Exchange Bar
Who’s missed after work drinks at The Exchange Bar? Well now we can get back to good times as The Exchange Bar is open every day for beer, wine and cocktails. Table seating is placed around each side of Leicester’s own Flat Iron equivalent and you book your spot by emailing [email protected].
Exciting new things are coming to St Martin’s Square as PAI opens its doors on Thursday 15 April. As the sister restaurant to the hugely popular KAI, they’re opening just across the Square and serving fantastic pizzas, wines and bottled beers. We’ve even spotted a Chutney & Paneer pizza on the menu! No bookings, but you can check out the new menu online via the PAI website.
