As summer rolls round so does wedding season and one business that knows all about that market is Moments Cards, Gifts & Party, who have been based in Leicester since 1988. We caught up with owners, Bina & Mash, to find out more about the shop based on Market Street and their online business.
Moments Cards, Gifts & Party specialise in the best helium balloons for individuals, venues and events, greetings cards, photo banners, photo balloons and other bespoke party decorations. Since opening in Leicester in 1988 they have seen the city’s retail scene and online business completely change, but the independent business has remained at the forefront of Leicester’s party scene.
“Moments have been established since 1988 serving Leicester and surrounding areas. Delivering and decorating venues with the best helium balloons & disposable party ware. We really aim to make our client’s special day enjoyable and stress free with our fantastic customer service from start to finish. We associate ourselves only with quality, expertise, reliability and professionalism.”

“Our customer service is second to none and our competitive prices bring customers back time and time again. We cater for events of all sizes, we supply birthday balloons for parties at home to weddings balloons in banquet halls but the level of customer service remains at our very highest for all events, big or small.”
In terms of location, Moments are based on Market Street in the city centre, a location that they’re really happy to call home. “We love being on Market Street as it’s a very friendly street. It allows us to be in walking distance from DMU, LRI, local offices in New Walk and other businesses in the area. Of course, when Fenwicks was still trading we benefited from footfall most of the day with people travelling into the city to shop, however since they’ve stopped trading we have noticed a decline in football from outside the city, so we rely even more on local businesses and local footfall.”
Of course, with the summer comes wedding season, a time that’s typically one of the busiest for events and greeting card retailers. With competition coming from every corner, weddings continue to be one of the most highly targeted markets, so as a local independent business, how do you stand out?
“We stock a variety of products from different suppliers and all our products are hand picked with over 30 years of experience in the industry. We have gained experience in what people are looking for and aim to deliver by choosing products from different suppliers all over the Midlands. During the wedding season we sell special title cards for family, unique & traditional wedding gifts and provide wedding balloon decorating service around Leicestershire.”
