It’s a hard time for city centre shops and many are finding new ways to adapt to the current situation. One of those is Just Fair Trade who are launching a brand new online shop.
The shop on Silver Street sells all manner of fair trade products and we caught up with them for this week’s BID Leicester Spotlight, to find out more about the brand new online store.
For anyone who hasn’t visit Just… how would you describe the shop and your range of products?
Just is 3 floors of all things Fair Trade, ethical and sustainable basics like food, toiletries and cleaning supplies, including refills, gifts including homeware toys and cards, fashion; clothes, socks, bags, jewellery and scarves. Lots are up cycled, recycled, and products that offer alternatives to plastic
How has the covid-19 lockdown affected you as a business? Have you been able to continue trading?
Initially we closed but now we are going online!
Tell us a little more about the online shop and what items will be available…
So online is now live! We’ve started with all the basics so in comparison to what we have in the physical shop the range on line is quite limited, however we are adding new products as quickly as we can.

We are offering:
Local delivery (for LE1, LE2 and LE3 postcodes) and Royal Mail post on Wednesdays.
Click and Collect – the shop is open Fridays and Saturdays 11 till 2pm for pick up of click and collect and limited shopping.
What are some of your favourite items that you stock?
I love so much of it, that’s one of the great things about being independent, being able to chose your own stock!
I have the clothes, jewellery and bags – I’m like a walking advert! And all my family and friends love the super soft bamboo socks. I find it hard to resist the chocolate, I tend to have a few squares (OK maybe a whole bar!!) most evenings with my coffee.
How do you find Leicester as a city to run an independent business in?
I love being surrounded by independent shops, cafes and bars, it feels like we’re a bit of a community and the vast majority of our customers are lovely too.
What are you most excited about in terms of launching the online shop?
We had just filled the shop with loads of gorgeous new stock for the spring summer season when we had to close so it’s lovely to start offering it on line. Lots of our products are hand made by disadvantaged people around the world. It feels like they need us more now than ever so it’s great that we are getting back to selling again.
