St Martin’s Lodge is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Leicester. Located opposite the Cathedral it has prime position for visitors to relax and explore the city.
Situated within a Grade II listed building, the hotel went under a full renovation and offers boutique luxury accommodation in the Greyfriars area of Leicester. We caught up with Business Manager, Nigel, to find out more in this week’s BID Leicester Spotlight feature.
What is unique about St Martin’s Lodge?
Privacy and security, which is big draw for our returning guests. St Martins Lodge is a safe and welcoming location for those looking to stay in the city for business or leisure. As we don’t have restaurant or bar areas, guests benefit from not having busy, noisy public areas which has been well received by guests during these COVID times. Given our location in the city, there are many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby which we recommend to guests and this also helps the local economy.
What is your favourite thing about the hotel’s location?
Being at the heart of the amazing Cathedral and Greyfriars area in the city which contains many of Leicester’s most important historic buildings and streets.
You’ve recently partnered with Cocoa Amore, how important is it for local businesses to support each other in these times?
As Leicester rebuilds its economy after the lockdowns, there are things that all of us in the locality can and are doing to boost it and help it to restore. When I was looking at how to further enhance our guest experience at St Martins Lodge and offer luxury chocolates, it had to be Cocoa Amore!
St Martin’s Lodge prides itself on being a luxury boutique hotel, what are some of the best features of the rooms?
St Martins Lodge has 28 bedrooms within a fully renovated Grade ll Listed building. Many of the original features have been retained including the hallway with its chandelier and elegant staircase. Each room has been individually styled in sympathy with the historic architecture and character of the building and many rooms have the original fireplaces. Our superior rooms feature freestanding bath tubs and our top floor junior suite has an amazing view of Leicester Cathedral and its gardens.
Do you see a large number of tourists visiting the city given your location near the King Richard III Visitor Centre?
Yes, we do and this has significantly increased since COVID restrictions were relaxed and the city museums reopened again in June. The King Richard lll Visitor Centre is only 50 yards away and St Martins Lodge is an ideal base for anyone visiting Leicester to enjoy the Richard lll experience or many of the other attractions we have in the city.
What would be your top tips of places to visit in the city if someone was visiting?
Where do you start! ‘Uncover The Story’ has recently be launched by Visit Leicester which is an imaginative story-led campaign bringing together some of Leicester’s best-kept secrets from Roman Ruins to the story of King Richard III. Leicester is also full of exciting culinary delights, from award-winning restaurants to independent bars and traditional real ale pubs.
What offers do you currently have available on stays at St Martin’s Lodge?
We are currently offering a midweek standard room rate of only £85.00 and £95.00 on weekends which includes free parking. Guests can also make their stay extra special by treating themselves to a bottle of champagne and box of Cocoa Amore chocolates for £40.00.
