Wok Indo moved into their new Highcross venue last year. Serving up Pan Asian Fusion cuisine, the locally run restaurant has become a quick hit in Leicester.
Wok Indo has a brand new lunchtime offer launching this January, offering any starter and mains served with a choice of rice or noodles for £12.50, as well as any noodle box for just £6 (including prawns or fish!)
We caught up with them for this week’s BID Spotlight to find out more.
How would you describe Wok Indo for someone who’s never been?
Wok Indo is a Pan Asian fusion cuisine restaurant. A wide selection of stir fried dishes to tickle your tastebuds freshly made and bursting with asian flavours. We serve a dine in a la carte menu all day, every day. We also have a layered wok box menu from as little as £6. Eat in (12-5pm), takeaway or delivery.
If we were visiting for the first time what should we order?
I’d go for our best selling dishes, which are salt and pepper prawns, chicken firecracker, garlic chilli fish, crispy aubergines, veg Hakka noodles, chilli paneer, chilli-salt-chips, veg or chicken yuk sung (lettuce wraps) and chicken black pepper stir fry. Or our house specials, which are chicken lollipops and Mongolian lamb.
What’s it like being a local independent in amongst the bigger chains at Highcross?
It is challenging and quite overwhelming. In retrospect, we are proud of what we have achieved. In 2017 from where we started off to where we are now, but we have indeed put our blood, sweat and tears into wok indo….we believe that these larger chains once started exactly how we did. I am sure they too took the chance and once said ‘If you don’t try, you’ll never know!’
How is the restaurant in catering for vegetarians and vegans?
We are certainly very well known among the vegetarians and we are equally accommodating to vegans with Tofu, Oriental mixed vegetables, Crispy Aubergines Wheels, new potatoes, lettuce wraps, soups, Asian vegetables such as okra and cassava and not forgetting mushrooms! Vegan possibilities are endless with our cuisine.
