Light Up Leicester launches today (Thursday 5 March), promising to light up the city each evening until Sunday 8 March. This brand new light festival will see seven illuminated artworks glow across town and LoyalFree have a special Light Up Leicester trail to help you make your way around them all.
From 5pm to 10pm each evening, these seven illuminated artworks will glow in the night sky. Four of these artworks have been part of similar successful events across the country, however three of them have been specially commissioned just for Light Up Leicester.
Before embarking on a trip to discover the artworks be sure to download your LoyalFree app so that you can follow the Light Up Leicester trail and win some great prizes. Their interactive map will help you to navigate your way around, so you don’t miss out on anything. Furthermore each installation will have its own QR code, which you can scan through LoyalFree to be entered into the Light Up Leicester competition. The more artworks you visit and scan, the more chances you have to win.
Trail prizes including a meal for 2 with a bottle of wine at Bill’s Leicester, tickets to Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience and an LED Cinema Lightbox. There are seven locations, so make sure you scan them all.
Not just to admire, the artworks in Light Up Leicester are all “connected”, each with their own interactive element.
You will be able influence what you see in front of you, be it through movement sensors, wifi connections or physically changing the artwork.
