This bank holiday weekend in Leicester sees the launch of Brew Beat, the city’s first craft beer festival.

With warm weather set to return, you can spend the weekend in Green Dragon Square with over 100 amazing craft beers to choose from, tasty food and over 40 live musical acts, before heading on a craft beer trail around the city. Even better, it’s all free.

LOCATION

The main festival hub will be in Green Dragon Square. Brew Beat kicks off on Saturday 28 August, running through until Monday, and will be open from 12pm – 9pm each day. At Green Dragon Square you can expect  a jam-packed line up of beer from local and national breweries and enjoy handpicked emerging musical talent on the stage.

As the debut craft beer festival, organisers have gone all out scouting out the very best of local and national breweries to provide festival-goers with over 100 carefully selected beers from master brewers. Beers you’ll be able to enjoy will be available from breweries like: Framework, Atom Beers, Thornbridge, Charnwood Brewery, Camden Town and many more. Non-alcoholic options and soft drinks will be available too.

MUSIC

Over the course of the weekend you’ll be able to enjoy over 40 talented local and national artists live on stage, with programming from HQ. Expect acts spanning musical genres from Urban to Funk, Hip Hop to Jazz and Soul and Rock. Live music will be on stage for the duration of opening hours at Green Dragon Square, from 12pm – 9pm each day. Acts set to appear include Maniscooler, Michael Vickers, Harri Georgio, Ninja Bob, Flynny O’Flynn and many more.

FOOD

You’ll be able to enjoy food from a number of local restaurants through the Dine in the Square facility. Once you’ve got a table in Green Dragon Square simply scan the table’s QR code to see the available menus. Choose from Thai, Indian, Burgers, Poutine, Pizza and so much more, with available restaurants including Mowgli, The Rutland & Derby, PAI, Giggling Squid, Desi Street Food, and more.

TRAIL

As well as the main festival site there is a Brew Beat trail across town all weekend, with participating venues including Manhattan34, The Exchange Bar, Queen of Bradgate, Parcel Yard, Knight & Garter, The Globe and many more. Each pub will have either special drinks available for one weekend only with many also running special offers for those following the trail. Don’t miss Chutney Ivy who are offering free Pakora if you order an ale (just let them know you’re on the Brew Beat trail when you order).

Brew Beat has been initiated and is funded by BID Leicester and delivered by three local businesses: design work has been co-ordinated by agency Arch Creative; the music offer curated by HQ Recording LTD and Steamin’ Billy will be providing a selection of drinks from the festival hub on Green Dragon Square.
