Standing in a historic building in the centre of Leicester, 1573 has been at the heart of Leicester’s food and drink scene since opening in 2009.
The steakhouse and grill sits at the heart of Highcross, offering an independent option amongst the bright lights of the shopping centre. With a lunchtime offer and cocktail deals on the menu, we caught up with them for this week’s BID Spotlight.
How would you describe 1573 for anyone who’s never visited?
1573 is a unique and elegant Bar & Grill Steak House providing a unique experience of dining in a building with history. Although we are primarily a steakhouse, we also have vegetarian and seafood dishes.
What is your favourite dish on the menu?
My favourite dish on the menu is either the T-bone Steak or the delicious Salmon Supreme.
What sets you apart from other restaurants in the city?
We provide the customer with a unique experience of dining in a building with history. The building is over 400 years old and is one of the oldest schoolhouses in the UK. The history of the building is fascinating; the building was built in 1573 out of stone, timber and lead from St. Peter’s Church that had been demolished following an appeal to Queen Elizabeth I to create a Boys Grammar School. Details of the school curriculum have survived and can be seen outside the building.
Tell us about the current menu offers you have available?

Another offer we have on is 2 for £10 cocktails: Sunday – Friday: 12pm – 7pm, Saturday: 12pm – 5pm
