Leicester is set for another addition to the restaurant scene as Tandem prepares to launch in August. With mystery surrounding the chef involved in the restaurant it has now been revealed that it will be Cyrus Todiwala, for his first restaurant outside of London.
Exclusive to Leicester, Tandem will open its doors in Highcross in the former Mem-Saab unit. Customers can expect to be taken on a journey of culinary discovery, combining Indian creativity with British produce. Inspired by Indian history and culture, Tandem will pair traditional cooking techniques with contemporary plating, in what promises to be a multi-sensory feast.
Launching into the upper end of the city’s restaurant market, the decadent restaurant and bar will offer accessible luxury and is a creative initiative from the yet-to-be-revealed award-winning chef. However they’ll also be offering a more laid back bar option as well.
The interior will take inspiration from Goan and Portuguese influences, offering a spot for a casual after-work-get-together, a post-shopping glass of fizz, a light snack in the bar, or a more indulgent evening sharing food and drink with friends and family.
Seating 150 diners, the restaurant will have 5 separate areas including an exclusive chef’s table for executive dining and a stunning rooftop terrace.
Guests will be encouraged to book a table; however, there will be a certain number of covers held back every day for last minute walk-ins.
A spokesperson for the restaurant added, “It’s important to us that Tandem provides accessibility as well as glamour and exclusivity. We want to encourage spontaneity!”
“Not only will the eatery have two floors with intimate dining areas, there will also be a garden bar with an outside terrace for people to enjoy drinks under a star-lit sky. It really will be a unique experience for all guests.”
