With festival season nearly upon us the anticipation and momentum is building for a music filled summer! Leicestershire is lucky enough to play host to the second biggest (only second to Glastonbury) festival in the UK with Download, and now the organisers have added a whole host of after dark activities to whet your festival appetite even more!
As if performances from Linkin Park, The Darkness, Def Leppard and a whole host of other top notch rock gods aren’t enough, now there’s a jam packed programme of extra-curricular activities to look forward to. This year revellers will be able to enjoy The Zombie Ball, which will take place on the first night. This will be the pinnacle of Fancy Dress Friday where the theme is, of course, Zombies! On the other evenings you’ll also be able to party the night away as INK Nightclub take over the decks to give you the best rock and metal disco of your lives! Expect sets from your favourite Radio 1, XFM and Metal Hammer DJs.
Looking for a brief respite from the music? Fear not because a top quality festival isn’t complete without a side of comedy! Leading up to the festival on Wednesday and Thursday you’ll be treated to performances from Kunt & The Gang, Andrew O’Neill, Jason Percival and many more, before the tent transcends into a world of theatrical and circus delights for the weekend. You can expect trapeze artists, contortionists and a true S&M experience conceived by Madame Pain who has even performed with the master of horror Alice Cooper.
Finally, add on to this the awesome Jäger Rock Truck, which will host The Acoustic Stage. After its success last year it will be back bigger and better than before and will be hosting exclusive acoustic sets from famous live rock bands throughout the day!
