A taste of Mexico is coming to Leicester with the opening of a new restaurant, Chimichanga, which opens today!

Twenty jobs are being created at the Tex-Mex restaurant, which is opening at High Cross Shopping Centre. The restaurant, built on the site of the former T M Lewin shop, has cost £650,000 to develop.

Chimichanga will offer an extensive menu including classic favourites; burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, quesadilias and fajitas, as well as an extensive grill section, featuring barbecue baby back ribs, flame grilled piri piri chicken and sirloin steak.

The restaurant will have seating for 90 diners; 70 in the restaurant itself and a further 20 in the outside dining area.

The restaurant has been designed to reflect the vibrancy of Mexico by combining bright colours and traditional materials. Its features include Mexican star lights and murals.

Restaurant manager, Pawel Sierazk said: “I am looking forward to opening Chimichanga and am confident that it will be a great addition to Leicester’s eating out scene.

Mexican food is more popular than ever and I am confident that people of all ages will enjoy the food and drink on offer.”

Chimichanga will be open from 12 noon until 11pm throughout the week.

You can see the menu over on the Chimichanga website.
