Remember Trigger Happy TV? Well the show’s star Dom Joly is bringing his new tour to Leicester with a date at De Montfort Hall on Saturday 7th May.

We managed to catch 5 minutes with him to answer some important questions. Here’s what he had to say!

It’s been a while since the days of Trigger Happy TV, what have you been up to since you were last all over our screen?

I have been in a religious retreat in China where I have learnt to harness the powers of nature and to be at one with the universe and all her abundant majesty.

What do you think is the best comedy show on TV at the moment?

Prime Minister’s Question Time.

You’re also a well known travel writer – you’ve got a £1000 budget, where are you going to go?

I’d pretend to travel to the Congo but actually pay for a lock-in at my village pub.

As an accomplished travel writer how would you describe Leicester in 1 sentence?

The jewel in the Leicestershire crown.

Just how annoying was Lembit Opik in I’m A Celebrity? Are you still in touch with any of your fellow contestants?

I have approached Gillian McKeith’s “people’ with an offer to crucify her live on stage every night but they have not returned my calls.

You famously were very unhappy with the US remake of Trigger Happy TV. What do you think of other US remakes such as The Office or the planned remakes of The Inbetweeners and Gavin & Stacey?

I have no idea as I’ve never seen any of these shows- I do know that you should never ask anybody in the US if you could “bum a fag?”

Is there one moment from Trigger Happy TV that will always stand out to you as the most memorable?

Yes, when I wrestled with a nun.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to get onto the comedy circuit?

Be funny.

Are you on Twitter? Who is your most famous follower and will you follow us (we’re at @coolasleicester)? We’re nice I promise

I am @domjoly and I say “cunt|” a lot. Trust me, you don’t want me following you.
