We caught up with owner, Ben, for this week’s BID Spotlight feature.
How would you describe Geek Retreat to somebody who has never been?
A gaming centre/hang out space where anyone is safe to enjoy geeky hobbies.
What are some of your favourite items you stock?
Board games, Pokemon cards, D&D, magic the gathering and very soon Disney’s Lorcana.

Tell us about your gaming events?
We hold weekly events every evening of the week except Mondays for all the major card games, pre-releases for new products and bigger entry tournaments each month.
Can people just pop in for food and drink?
They certainly can, everyone is welcome to just pop by and chat whether they want to game, chat or even do some knitting.
What makes Geek Retreat so unique in Leicester?
We cater for a wide variety of gaming interests, teach people games absolutely free of charge and have a very large open space so players are not cramped.
What future plans do you have for Geek Retreat?
In September we will be starting a new player league for children and teens for the new Disney Lorcana games. We want to spread further afield attending more comicon events and continue to grow the fantastic communities that we have the privilage of hosting in our store.

Monday 12pm – 6pm
Tuesday to Friday 12pm – 10pm
Saturday & Sunday 10am – 7pm
Where can people keep up to date with news and events?
We post all events on our Facebook page, in store on the notice board and have whats app groups for the various game systems.
Geek Retreat is located at 32 Cank Street, LE1. A menu of light bites, bubble tea and shakes is available in the venue.
