As the weather’s getting warmer and thoughts drift towards summer our minds inevitably turn to one of the best things about the summer – Festivals! Hard to believe but festival season is nearly upon us yet again and here in Leicester we’re lucky to have one of the biggest ones going right on our doorstep in the form of Download!

With a capacity of a whopping 111,000 people, Download is the second biggest festival in the UK and this year looks set to be better than ever! As if the headliners of Def Leppard, System of a Down and Linkin Park aren’t tantalising enough, you can add recently reformed glam rockers The Darkness, Skunk Anansie, American rocker Alice Cooper, punk troubadour Frank Turner and electronic rock outfit Pendulum into the mix. And that’s only scraping the very surface of the top notch lineup.

The festival is located over at Donington Park, which is only 30-40 minutes drive from Leicester City Centre, so if camping isn’t your bag you can easily nip home for a comfy bed and a shower! Last year AC/DC scooped the UK Festival Award for top headliner performance of the summer for their Download show, so the bar has certainly been raised for this year’s acts to match up.
