You might remember that a few weeks ago we told out all about how Leicester’s booming food scene was set for a delicious boost with the opening of Delilah Fine Foods at 4 St Martin’s.  Well the fiercely independent delicatessen and food bar has enjoyed a successful soft launch period and has now decided to celebrate their official launch with everybody on Friday 5 August, when they’ll be holding a special tasting event. Yes, between 4pm to 7pm on Friday 5 August you’ll be able to pop along and try a range of food and drink samples. There will be an opportunity to meet with numerous suppliers with bread samples, cheese tasting, spirit and Prosecco cocktail sampling, as well as canape style tasting of the menu so you can experience a real taste of Delilah.

Delilah pride themselves on working with the very finest producers, stocking thousands of different products within their new home on St Martin’s. The delicatessen is coupled with an impressive fully licensed food bar, which means that the vast range of high quality produce can be tasted in a range of specially crafted dishes for breakfast, lunch or an early supper.

The quality of produce at Delilah has been recognised with various National awards including Olives et al Deli of the Year 2012/2013, Local Gem of the Year 2015 for the Good Food Guide and BBC Good Food Magazines/Waitrose Small Producers Award – Best Independent Delicatessen 2007 to name just a few, and that quality is set to continue in their Leicester venue.

Occupying the former Allied Irish Bank the delicatessen is very spacious and visitors can spend many a luxurious afternoon grazing on the produce, enjoying coffee and cake, or a weekend champagne brunch. Of course, not just limited to food, their enormous selection of wines from independent vineyards also represents one of the city centre’s finest collections. Their home in the former banking hall has been restored to its former glory with support from the Greyfriars Townscape Heritage Initiative, a City Council and Heritage Lottery Funded scheme.

The special launch event is free to attend and will be held on Friday 5 August from 4 to 7pm. You can join in the discussion and find out the latest on the event over on the Facebook event page.
